Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Vanni Arasu on Saturday posted a cryptic message on X amid uncertainty over the party’s support to actor-politician Vijay and the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government formation in Tamil Nadu.

“Even if you try to marginalise us, alienate us, we ourselves will decide that we are the centre!” Vanni Arasu wrote in the post, triggering speculation over VCK’s stand as Vijay continued efforts to secure enough support to form the government.

The post comes as VCK President Thol Thirumavalavan will also hold a meeting with the party’s senior leaders on the issue of support to TVK later today.

VCK also held an online meeting on Friday of its high-level committee to discuss TVK’s request for support to form the government.

The party said several resolutions were passed based on the discussions and added that party chief “Ezhuchchi Thamizhar” would officially announce the final decision on Saturday morning.

The statement also said conflicting reports in the media were creating confusion among people and affecting the party’s positive image. VCK urged the public to wait for the official announcement from its leadership.

TVK, which emerged as the single-largest party with 108 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, has been seeking support from smaller parties to cross the majority mark of 118 seats. VCK won two seats in the 2026 Assembly elections and has not yet officially committed support to the Vijay-led coalition.

Sources at Lok Bhavan said Vijay arrived before Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar with signatures of 117 MLAs in support of his claim to form the government. According to the sources, the support included five Congress MLAs, four Left MLAs and one MLA from AMMK.

The CPI and CPI(M), which secured two seats each, and Congress, which won five seats, have already extended support to TVK. Their backing strengthened Vijay’s bid to end the decades-long dominance of the DMK-AIADMK duopoly in Tamil Nadu politics.

Earlier, Vijay met Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Lok Bhavan and formally staked claim to form the government after gathering support from multiple parties following the fractured verdict in the Assembly elections.

“TVK is the single-largest party. It needs six MLAs to form the government. We have given six MLAs of CPI, CPI(M) and VCK. We have given our support; it is our democratic duty. This is a people's democracy. We will stand with democracy, we will stand with people,” he told ANI.
