India welcomes US-Iran ceasefire, hopes for lasting peace in West Asia

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has welcomed the ceasefire involving Israel and Iran, expressing hope that the development leads to lasting peace in the region. During a press conference, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasised India's consistent stance on 'de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy' as the primary means to end the conflict, which has caused immense suffering. India also highlighted its expectation for unimpeded passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route.
