Dhurandhar's Rakesh Bedi rejects comparison with Pak politician: I love you, Nabil
Rakesh Bedi clarified the confusion over the inspiration behind portraying Jameel Jamali in Dhurandhar: The Revenge. He also addressed claims about his character being based on a real-life politician.

Pakistani politician Nabil Gabol had expressed his disappointment over his alleged fictionalised portrayal in director Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Actor Rakesh Bedi, who plays Jameel Jamali in the film, humorously responded to Gabol.
Bedi, in an interview with The Lallantop, mentioned that there is no similarity between him and Gabol, apart from the fact that both look alike.
He said, "I would like to say, I love you, Nabil Gabol. I love you very much, and it’s a coincidence that I resemble you a little bit. But I can’t help it."
While speaking about the resemblance, the actor added, "Neither your father came to India, nor my father went to Pakistan. But aside from our looks, we look alike; we have a slight heaviness in our bodies, which makes us look alike. I even wore similar clothes in the film, so we looked alike. Other than that there is no similarity between me and him."
He firmly dismissed the claim that the character was based on the politician. "My character is not based on Nabil Gabol. Jameel Jamali is inspired by many such politicians in Pakistan," Bedi concluded.
Nabeel Gabol on Jameel Jamali's portrayal
A few days ago, a video surfaced in which Gabol had announced plans to make his own film after facing intense online trolling following the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Reacting to the backlash, Gabol said that he would respond “powerfully” and reveal what Lyari “actually is” through cinema.
His proposed film, tentatively titled Lyari Ka Gabbar, is positioned as a direct response to filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s espionage drama, which has sparked debate across social media platforms.
Gabol also criticised the portrayal of Jameel Jamali, particularly a narrative twist that shows the figure as an intelligence operative. He argued that the depiction misrepresented his personality and role, adding that the film exaggerated aspects of Lyari’s image.
Apart from Bedi, Dhurandhar: The Revenge features actors Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor, Gaurav Gera, Manav Gohil, Udaybir Sandhu and others in key roles. The film is co-produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge had a theatrical release on March 19, 2026.
