Police identified the victim as Anshika, a 21-year-old NEET student who lived with her family in the Lal Bagh area of Delhi. Family members have remained silent over the incident and mourning has gripped the household.

Officials said the student had appeared for the NEET examination in 2024, 2025 and 2026.

Police suspect it to be a case of suicide. However, investigators have not recovered any suicide note so far.

Rinku Pradhan, the chief priest at the crematorium, also confirmed that the family had arrived to conduct the last rites before police intervened.
