A video showing two groups throwing stones at each other in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district has gone viral on social media, prompting police action and raising concerns over local law and order.

The incident took place in Ajarara village under Mundali police station limits on Thursday, officials said. In the video, people can be seen throwing stones and bricks at each other, with some individuals hurling objects from rooftops while others retaliate from the ground. The sudden violence reportedly created panic in the village, with residents rushing to safety.

According to preliminary information, the clash broke out over a dispute related to house construction. Police said construction work was underway at a house in the village when an argument erupted between two groups. The disagreement quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, leading to stone-throwingfrom both sides.

Local residents intervened to calm the situation, but not before the clash intensified and caused chaos in the area. Authorities said there were no immediate reports of serious injuries, though the incident led to tension and disruption in the locality.

Upon receiving information, police teams rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Several individuals involved in the clash have been taken into custody for questioning.

Confirming the incident, Meerut Rural Superintendent of Police Abhijeet Kumar said the police took immediate cognisance after the video surfaced. “The matter pertains to Ajarara village under Mundali police station. It has come to light that the dispute occurred over construction-related issues. Police reached the spot, conducted an inquiry, and called several individuals to the station for questioning,” he said.

Officials added that a case has been registered, and further legal action is being taken. Police are also examining the viral video and collecting evidence to identify those involved in the violence.

Authorities have urged residents to maintain peace and avoid spreading rumours on social media, assuring that strict action will be taken against those responsible for disturbing public order.
