A one-sided love story that had already seen a young woman survive a near-fatal knife attack has now spiralled into a brutal revenge killing in Maharashtra’s Pune, leaving one man dead and two others behind bars.

The victim, Subhan Amit Shaikh, had become a feared name in the area after allegedly attacking a woman named Sapna with a knife nearly five months ago when she refused his advances. The assault had sent shockwaves through the locality, with police arresting Subhan soon after and sending him to jail.

But the story did not end there.

Subhan was released on bail just five days ago. His return sparked fear once again among Sapna’s family, who believed he could target her again.

According to police, Sapna had repeatedly rejected Subhan despite his obsession with her. Her mother, Jayshree Kadam, had also strongly opposed the relationship from the beginning.

Investigators said tension had been building ever since Subhan came out of jail. Fearing another attack on her daughter, Jayshree Kadam allegedly informed her acquaintances Vishal Suryavanshi and Aniket Suryavanshi about the situation.

Subhan was reportedly warned to stay away from Sapna. “Leave her alone, or the consequences will be bad,” he had allegedly been told.

BLOODY ATTACK ON PUNE STREET

The simmering hostility exploded into bloodshed on Thursday night around 11 pm.

Police said Vishal Suryavanshi and Aniket Suryavanshi intercepted Subhan Shaikh and his associate Harshad Ramzan Shaikh before launching a savage assault with knives and a chopper.

The attack was so sudden and violent that Subhan had little chance to escape.

He suffered multiple deep injuries to his hands, stomach and neck as the attackers repeatedly struck him. Eyewitnesses said the area was thrown into chaos as the confrontation unfolded late at night.

Subhan collapsed in a pool of blood before he could be rushed to the hospital. Doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin.

His associate Harshad Ramzan Shaikh was also injured in the attack.

REVENGE ANGLE UNDER SCANNER

The murder has now added another chilling chapter to a case already linked to obsession, rejection and violence.

As news of the killing spread, Kalewadi police launched a rapid investigation and tracked down the two accused within hours. Vishal Suryavanshi and Aniket Suryavanshi were arrested soon after the incident.

Police are now probing whether the murder was a planned revenge attack triggered by fears that Subhan could again target Sapna after securing bail.

ACP Sunil Kurhade said the investigation into the case is continuing.
