A domestic dispute over a crate of mangoes worth Rs 850 landed at a police station in Pune after a woman accused her husband, an IT engineer, of assaulting and abusing her, police said.

The incident took place around 10:30 am on Sunday (May 24) at the couple’s home in Pune.

According to police, the woman had ordered a crate of mangoes from a vendor outside their housing society. She then sent the QR code payment link to her husband and asked him to make the payment.

Police said the husband allegedly became angry and refused to pay for the mangoes, triggering an argument between the couple that soon escalated into a heated quarrel.

As per the complaint, the woman began recording the argument on her mobile phone. During the altercation, the husband allegedly snatched the phone from her hand and assaulted her, causing an injury near her eyebrow. She also alleged that he verbally abused her before leaving the house.

The woman later approached the police, after which she was sent for medical examination and treatment.

Based on her complaint, Pune Police registered an FIR against the husband under Sections 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, related to voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or means, and 351(2), related to criminal intimidation.

Police said further investigation is underway.
