The good, bad & ugly side of fight against Covid-19

India has registered 62,714 fresh coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday. With the fresh coronavirus cases, the Covid-19 tally in India has climbed to 1,19,71,624.

In the past 24 hours, 312 coronavirus patients have succumbed to the infection, taking the death toll due to coronavirus to 1,61,552. There are 4,86,310 active cases in the country, according to the health ministry.

The daily death toll of 312 is the highest since December 25, 2020, when 336 new deaths were reported.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.
