CBSE Class 12 re-evaluation: Students claim scanned copies awaited

CBSE's Class 12 re-evaluation window will open on June 1, as per the latest notice. Many students on social media claim that they are still awaiting scanned answer sheets. The delay has left them unable to begin the mandatory question-wise review before applying.

CBSE Class 12 re-evaluation date has now been shifted to June 1, 2026, as per the latest updates from CBSE. However, several students claim they are still unable to start the process as they have not yet received the scanned copies of their evaluated answer books, now a mandatory prerequisite under CBSE’s revised post-result system.

One user wrote on X, "Dear@cbseindia29, I paid to see 5 answer copies on 20th May, and today is 29th May and I STILL have not received my chemistry copy. I’ve tried mailing the main email IDs of CBSE, I tried calling all the helpline numbers too, no reply from past so many days. Today is last day"

Similar complaints have surfaced across social media platforms, with students claiming that delays in receiving answer sheets have left them with little time to review their papers before the re-evaluation deadline.

RE-EVALUATION? STUDENTS DIDN'T EVEN GET THE SCANNED COPIES

According to CBSE's post-result support update released on May 26, a total of 4,04,319 students applied for scanned answer books, requesting 11,31,961 answer sheets.

The board said 8,98,214 answer books had already been digitally furnished by 6 pm on May 26.

CBSE further stated that all pending requests were expected to be completed by May 27 and that the portal for verification and re-evaluation would become operational by May 29.

Yet, many students say their experience has been different.

A student who applied for five answer books on May 20 posted that the Chemistry answer sheet had still not been received on May 29.

One user wrote on X, "8+ days since I applied for my CBSE Eco answer sheet (May 19). Status says 'process completed' but I haven't received it. No reply to emails/calls."

Another user from Rajkot claimed that while four scanned copies had been furnished, the Chemistry paper remained unavailable.

One user on facebook wrote, "My son had applied for photocopies of his answer sheets on 20/05/2026. Today is 29/05/2026, but we have still not received any scanned copies either by email or on the CBSE portal."

"How can the re-evaluation process be started?", she added.

WHAT'S THE ISSUE WITH SCANNED COPIES?

The issue is significant because of the way CBSE's new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system works.

Unlike the earlier process, students are now required to first obtain their scanned answer sheets, compare them with the marking scheme and identify specific questions where they believe marks may have been missed. Only then can they apply for verification or re-evaluation.

In other words, students cannot simply seek a review of the entire paper. They must point out the exact questions they want re-evaluated.

For students who have not yet received their answer books, that first step itself remains incomplete.

ADMISSIONS WORRY ADDS TO PRESSURE

The delays have also sparked concerns about college admissions and counselling timelines.

One social media user questioned how students would be able to apply for re-evaluation, receive revised results and complete admissions if answer sheet copies were not being provided on time.

He wrote on X, "Till now the children have not even received the photocopies, when will they apply for re-evaluation, when will their results come, how will they take admission in the college", adding that CBSE should provide relief to the students.

As the re-evaluation window closes soon after June 1, students caught between official timelines and pending answer sheets are left wondering whether they will get a fair opportunity to challenge their marks under the board's new system.
