Across Maharashtra’s nine divisions, 8,446 differently-abled students registered for the HSC examination this year. Out of these, 8,367 appeared for the exams, and 7,579 students cleared it successfully, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 90.58%.

Of the 153 subjects in the Maharashtra HSC Class 12 exams, 26 subjects saw every student pass, achieving a perfect success rate.

The Science stream led the performance with a pass percentage of 96.44 per cent. Commerce followed at 87.03 per cent, while the Vocational stream recorded 82.64 per cent.
The Arts stream registered the lowest success rate at 78.02 per cent.

The Konkan division has emerged as the top performer with a pass percentage of 94.14 per cent. On the other hand, the Latur division reported the lowest result, with 84.14 per cent students clearing the exam.

Girls have once again secured a higher pass percentage than boys in the Maharashtra HSC Result 2026. Across all divisions, girls recorded a pass percentage of 93.15 per cent, while boys stood at 86.80 per cent.

This marks a gap of 6.35 percentage points, continuing the trend of girls leading overall performance in the board examinations.

In a major relief for students, the Maharashtra government has approved the release of more than ?51.68 crore to settle long-pending post-matric scholarship and freeship dues for 15,252 beneficiaries from the 2018–19 academic session.

According to a Government Resolution issued on April 30 by the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department, the move aims to address pending payments and excess disbursals made through the MahaDBT portal, helping resolve discrepancies in the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

A significant portion of the funds—around Rs 45.81 crore—has been allocated for OBC students, covering over 15,000 beneficiaries. Meanwhile, ?5.32 crore has been earmarked for students from the VJNT category, and ?45.61 lakh for those under the SBC category.

These discrepancies trace back to the initial rollout of the MahaDBT system in 2018–19, when the absence of a robust validation mechanism led to mismatches in fund distribution. Out of ?120.45 crore processed at the time, nearly Rs 52 crore remained unsettled.

Following a review conducted in February 2026, the state government has now cleared these dues and authorised their transfer to MahaIT’s central pool account for reconciliation and further disbursal. The funds will be routed through the MahaDBT platform to ensure transparency and timely credit into students’ bank accounts.
The Director of Other Backward Bahujan Welfare, Pune, has been assigned to monitor the implementation and ensure compliance with the updated disbursal process.
