In a significant political shift in Tamil Nadu, the Left parties have pledged unconditional support to the TVK to form the state government. A senior CPIM leader, MA Baby, confirmed that the TVK leadership submitted letters of support at the Lok Bhavan, reaching the required majority. The leader revealed that the DMK had proposed supporting an AIADMK-led government from the outside and requested the Left to follow suit. However, the Left parties rejected this approach, citing the AIADMK's previous alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the National Democratic Alliance. Instead, the Left chose to back the TVK, the single largest party, to prevent the Bharatiya Janata Party from influencing the state's political mandate through the governor. The CPIM leader noted that while the Congress left the DMK alliance without consultation, the Left formally communicated its decision to the DMK leadership.
