Sunil Pal: Wasn't mentally prepared for Samay Raina's roast on Kapil Sharma's show
Sunil Pal said he went to The Great Indian Kapil Show prepared for a stand-up set, but the interaction featuring Samay Raina turned into a roast instead. The exchange, with jibes from both comedians, later became a talking point on social media.

Comedian Sunil Pal has said he was caught off guard during his recent appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, claiming he was not mentally prepared for the roast segment led by Samay Raina.
Speaking to Zee Switch, Pal said he had gone to the World Laughter Day special expecting to perform a stand-up set, but the segment unfolded very differently once it began.
Pal said he was informed that Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia would also be part of the episode, but he was specifically invited to perform. “I was told they would be there, and I had to perform. So I prepared my stand-up,” he said, adding that the format changed once the show went on air.
According to Pal, the stand-up segment did not happen, and the interaction turned into a roast instead. “I was not mentally prepared for that,” he said, noting that while he would not call it a betrayal, the experience was not what he had expected.
On-stage banter draws attention
During the episode, host Kapil Sharma brought up Pal’s earlier remark in which he had called Raina the “terrorist of comedy”. In a light-hearted tone, Kapil asked what led him to say that.
Responding on stage, Pal said it might have been easier if Raina “threw grenades”, adding that what he says is harder to process. He also remarked that humour which people do not understand often does not fit into society.
Raina responded with a playful dig, asking what problem Pal had with him and joking about his style of comedy. He also quipped about Pal’s habits, sparking a back-and-forth exchange between the two.
Sunil-Samay dispute
For context, Sunil Pal was among those who had openly criticised Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia over their controversial remarks and use of inappropriate language during an episode of India’s Got Latent.
Sunil had also taken aim at the makers of Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, for featuring Samay on the show.
