Day after poll results, cash, gold found in Bengal hospital; BJP alleges TMC link
A bag containing cash, gold ornaments and land documents was found inside the operation theatre of a rural hospital in South 24 Parganas. The recovery triggered a BJP protest, rival claims over ownership and a police investigation.

Days after the election results, a government hospital in the state has landed in controversy after a large quantity of cash and gold ornaments was recovered from inside an operation theatre, triggering protests and political accusations.
The recovery was reported from a rural hospital in South 24 Parganas, where an unattended bag allegedly containing cash, gold jewellery and land documents was found within the hospital premises.
BAG FOUND INSIDE OPERATION THEATRE
According to local accounts, the bag was noticed inside the operation theatre on Tuesday morning, raising suspicion among those present.
When it was opened, it allegedly contained a substantial amount of cash, gold ornaments and several land-related documents.
The discovery quickly drew attention, with local BJP workers reaching the hospital and staging a protest.
BJP ALLEGES LINK TO TMC LEADER
BJP workers alleged that the valuables were illegal assets linked to a Trinamool Congress leader.
They claimed that a close associate of Sawkat Molla, identified as Hossain Gazi, had stored the cash and gold inside the hospital.
The protest intensified as BJP workers detained the doctor in charge at the hospital, demanding action.
HOSPITAL VERSION DIFFERS
The hospital administration offered a different account of how the bag reached the premises.
Doctor Shah Rukh Khan said the bag had been left behind by Samser Mir, the son of a local Trinamool booth president.
He also said that Samser Mir worked as a temporary staff member at the hospital.
POLICE REACH SPOT, TENSION BUILDS
Police from the local station reached the hospital after receiving information about the recovery.
Tension prevailed in the area as political accusations and counter-claims escalated following the discovery.
The source of the cash and gold, as well as ownership of the bag, is now expected to be examined as part of the investigation.
