Bihar CM Announcement Highlights: Samrat Choudhary to take oath as Bihar CM at 11 am tomorrow

For 22 months, BJP leader Samrat Choudhary wore the muretha (turban) as a vow. He pledged to remove it only after ousting Nitish Kumar from the chief minister's post. Choudhary was named Bihar's new CM on Tuesday. But the muretha was off over a year ago. Read more here. 

Union Minister and former BJP President JP Nadda will travel to Patna from Tamil Nadu to attend the oath-taking ceremony at 10 am on Wednesday.

Election Strategist Prashant Kishor has slammed the BJP for appointing Samrat Choudhary as the next Bihar Chief Minister. Speaking to India Today, he said, "Bihar—the land of knowledge—has received its first 'gift' from the BJP: an individual whose conduct, character, and public persona should be subjected to intense scrutiny. The BJP has effectively signalled that Bihar will be governed from Gujarat."

Speaking to reporters after the NDA legislative party meeting, JDU MLA Anant Singh said that Samrat Choudhary will continue to do the good work left by Nitish Kumar. Singh added he wants to see Nishant Kumar, Nitish's son, as the Deputy CM.

The governor has accepted NDA's claim to form a new cabinet in Bihar. 

The swearing-in for the cabinet will take place at 10.50 am at Lok Bhawan tomorrow. The oath-taking ceremony will occur at 11 am.
