The government said an interim increase in minimum wages has been implemented, taking into account current economic conditions and workersâ demands. It added that revised wage rates have come into effect from April 1, 2026, including in Noida (Gautam Buddh Nagar), Ghaziabad and other regions.

Noida Workers Protest: Congress targets UP govt on Noida protest
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the scenes unfolding on the streets represent the âfinal cryâ of the nationâs workers, adding that the impact of US tariff wars, global inflation, and disrupted supply chains has not been borne by Prime Minister Narendra Modiâs âindustrialist friends,â but by daily-wage labourers.
The Leader of Opposition said he stands with every worker who forms the backbone of the country, alleging that the Modi government has come to view them as a burden.
"What unfolded on the streets of Noida yesterday was the final cry of this nation's workers - a voice that went unheard at every turn, a voice weary from ceaseless pleading," Gandhi said in a post in Hindi on X.

Noida Protest Live: Fake Rs 20,000 wage claim sparked Noida chaos, say officials
A fake message claiming that the central government had ordered a minimum wage of Rs 20,000 for all workers was circulated, officials said. The misinformation reportedly originated in Haryana and later spread across the NCR region.
Officials said a meeting was held yesterday with both sides involved in the matter. Workers raised concerns over rising inflation, stating that while the cost of living has increased significantly, wages have remained unchanged.
Authorities noted that earlier a flat wage rate was applicable across the state, despite varying living costs in different regions. A committee has now recommended a revised structure with three wage categories, including a separate slab for Noida and Ghaziabad, and another for other districts.
Officials added that the aim is to protect both workers and industries, and efforts are underway to find a balanced solution so that neither side is adversely affected. Workers also conveyed that they want to continue working.
The government has increased minimum wage rates, while companies have been given discretion to decide additional pay for their employees.
