Should be crushed to death: Pune rape-murder accused disowned by family
The four-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by the 65-year-old labourer in a village after he allegedly lured her with the promise of food and took her to a shed in a cattle enclosure.

Amid the public outrage over the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in Pune on May 1, the family members of the 65-year-old accused have disassociated themselves from the accused while demanding strict punishment.
Speaking to India Today, the accused's wife and son said they have had no contact with him for the past decade and do not wish to be linked to him in any manner.
"He should be crushed to death at the same place where the child was killed. I don't even want to see my husband's face. We have had no contact for ten years," she said.
Echoing similar sentiments, the accused's son said, "I feel ashamed to call such a person my father." The son also shared his emotional distress, stating that the victim reminded him of his own nieces and that the incident has deeply affected the family.
The accused is currently in custody of Pune Rural Police in connection with the rape, and murder of the three-year-old girl.
REVISITING THE INCIDENT
A 65-year-old labourer allegedly lured a four-year-old girl with food before taking her to cattle shed, where he allegedly raped and murdered her.
The accused, who has a prior criminal record, was arrested and remanded to police custody till May 7.
The girl, who had reportedly been visiting her maternal grandmother during school holidays, went missing in the afternoon of May 1, prompting a search by her family. The victim's body was later found concealed inside the shed.
PUBLIC OUTRAGE OVER INCIDENT
The incident sparked intense anger among local residents, with hundreds gathering at a police outpost demanding strict action.
Protesters staged a blockade on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway, causing traffic disruptions.
Villagers also reportedly resisted initial police efforts to move the body for post-mortem, demanding immediate justice and harsh punishment for the accused.
Authorities have constituted a Special Investigation Team, led by a senior woman officer, to ensure a thorough and swift probe into the case.
