My Take: Aadhaar card should not be linked to income tax returns

Making Aadhaar card mandatory for income tax returns raises legitimate concerns over privacy and security issues.

Aadhaar was meant to facilitate services as citizen's right; making it a duty and linking it to PAN cards may be well intentional but where are the safeguards to ensure a citizen's data will not be misused or leaked?

Till then the courts will be best advised to keep Aadhaar card a voluntary identity mechanism as it was earlier meant to be.
