BJP MP Om Birla unanimously elected as Lok Sabha speaker

Two-time Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, Om Birla from Kota constituency in Rajasthan is all set to take charge as the new Lok Sabha speaker.
Om Birla was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha on Wednesday. His candidature as the Speaker was supported by all major parties including Congress, TMC, DMK and BJD.
Om Birla took his oath at the parliament and succeeded Sumitra Mahajan to replace her as the LS speaker. Sumitra Mahajan did not contest the Lok Sabha elections this year.
