Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting in Mandela Nagar Ground in Madurai. He also laid the foundation stone for AIIMS Madurai and inaugurated super-speciality blocks at medical colleges in Rajaji, Thanjavur and Tirunelveli.
"It (AIIMS Madurai) will benefit the entire population of Tamil Nadu. The NDA government is giving great priority to the health sector so that everyone is healthy," PM Modi said.
The AIIMS in Madurai would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore, the prime minister said.
