PM Modi at Somnath Parv Slams Nehru's 'Slave Mentality', Says History Was Whitewashed

At the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a strong speech criticising former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's stance on the historic temple. Modi stated that post-independence, a 'slave mentality' persisted and there were attempts to whitewash history and sideline Somnath due to appeasement. He asserted that the repeated attacks on the temple were not merely for loot but were an assault on Sanatan culture. The Prime Minister said, 'When Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel took the oath for the reconstruction of Somnath, attempts were made to stop him too.' The BJP has also presented letters allegedly written by Nehru prohibiting assistance to the Somnath Trust. An unidentified second speaker also commented on Nehru's 'prejudiced Hindu Virodi mindset' regarding the temple's reconstruction.

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders.
