Ganga Expressway inauguration on April 29 will mark the launch of a 594 km high-speed corridor connecting Meerut to Prayagraj, cutting travel time and boosting connectivity.

The Ganga Expressway is set to be inaugurated on April 29, 2026, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking a major step in Uttar Pradesh’s road network. This 594 km long expressway will connect Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh to Prayagraj in the east, creating a faster and more efficient travel route.
The project is designed to improve connectivity across multiple districts while reducing travel time.
With the Ganga Expressway route and features gaining attention, it is expected to play an important role in easing long-distance travel and supporting economic activity across the state.
ROUTE AND DISTANCE
The Ganga Expressway spans a total length of 594 km, making it one of the longest expressways in India.
It starts from Bijauli village in Meerut and ends at Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj, connecting western and eastern Uttar Pradesh in a single stretch.
DISTRICTS COVERED
The expressway passes through 12 districts across the state.
These include Meerut, Hapur, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Farrukhabad, Hardoi, Kannauj, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh, linking several key regions along the way.
PROJECT DESIGN AND FEATURES
The Ganga Expressway is a six-lane, access-controlled highway.
It has been designed in a way that allows expansion to eight lanes in the future, depending on traffic demand.
Modern infrastructure such as interchanges and major bridges has been added to keep traffic movement smooth across the route.
COST AND TRAVEL TIME
The project has been built at an estimated cost of around Rs 36,230 crore.
Once operational, it is expected to reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from 10–12 hours to about 6–7 hours, offering a much faster journey.
SPEED AND CONNECTIVITY
The expressway is designed for high-speed travel, with a maximum speed limit of 120 km/h.
It will pass through around 519 villages, improving access and connectivity for people living in these areas.
