A debut is always meant to be special and Tara Sutaria definitely understood the assignment. For this special occasion, she kept it prim, proper, poised and unmistakably Tara.

For her red carpet debut at the 79th edition of Cannes Film Festival, Sutaria opted for a classic white satin gown by Viviienne Westwood. The silhouette flowed smoothly along the body with a clean, polished finesse, letting the structure and movement of the outfit do all the talking.

She made heads turn in a classic strapless satin gown with a corseted bodice that added a couture-like sharpness. The sculpted cowl neckline also beautifully framed the collarbone. From the bodice, with delicate pleats gathered around the waist, the fabric softly fell from the hips into a slim A-line silhouette, creating a gentle hourglass shape, folding and flowing in an elegant manner.

Adding to the fluidity, she paired it with a dramatic satin cape cascading from her arms, bringing a touch of theatre to the otherwise minimal look.

To complete her look, she focused on keeping a sleek hair updo and accessorised with a striking diamond neckpiece. The green added a pop of colour to the all-white palette. She paired it with matching earrings, bracelet and rings bringing a touch of old-world glamour.

Her beauty look mirrored the same mood — soft, polished and classic. Frosted eyes, muted lips and the right amount of blush gave the entire aesthetic a vintage-screen-star quality, but with a modern edge. Much like a seamless continuation of the old-Hollywood glamour she had been serving at Cannes.

For a Cannes debut, it wasn’t loud or overdramatic. It was graceful, confident and incredibly memorable.

Sutaria's time at the film festival has all been about old-school glamour. The kind that’s evergreen, the kind that makes you stop and admire the muse. If you look closely, her aesthetic, as seen from the poster of her upcoming global release Toxic, is all things retro.

Earlier in the day, the actor opted for an all-black ensemble with opera gloves channelling the femme-fatale energy.

For her first look on the French Riviera, she donned a black-and-white Helsa midi dress, making her look straight out of an old-Hollywood movie. Her journey to Cannes actually started with a striped suit — a boyfriend blazer, super-baggy trousers, a white cape top, rounded glasses and a mini Dior bag — exuding major 90s supermodel energy.

Tara Sutaria was honoured at the Women in Cinema Gala evening hosted by the Red Sea Film Foundation at Cannes. It was an evening celebrating the prowess of women cinephiles both behind and in front of the camera.

Last year, Jacqueline Fernandez was honoured at the event, while prior to that, Kiara Advani also attended after being recognised among the six women celebrated at the prestigious gala.
