Bandar teaser: Bobby Deol plays fading star caught in scandal and chaos

The teaser of Bandar starring Bobby Deol has been unveiled, offering a dark and gripping glimpse into the troubled life of Samar, a fading television star whose life spirals after a serious allegation. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the upcoming crime thriller explores fame, downfall and public scrutiny through its intense first teaser.

The official teaser opens with a 90s retro-themed score as Samar walks onto a stage, seemingly trying to hold on to his fading stardom. Once a celebrated face, the actor is now struggling to stay relevant while navigating a turbulent personal life.

The teaser also introduces Samar’s ex, Gayatri, played by Sapna Pabbi, who wants to reunite with him. However, things begin to fall apart after Samar starts seeing a younger woman, Khushi, portrayed by Saba Azad. Soon, Samar’s world comes crashing down after he is accused of rape.

The teaser shows glimpses of his arrest, public humiliation, and time inside a police station and jail. It ends on a haunting note with Bobby Deol’s character smiling with a missing tooth, hinting at the darker turns his journey takes after the allegations.

Sanya Malhotra appears as Samar’s supportive sister, standing by him during his difficult phase.

Written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, the film is reportedly inspired by a real-life incident. It follows Samar, an ageing television star on the verge of losing relevance, whose life becomes more complicated when his former partner re-enters his world.

Produced by Nikhil Dwivedi, Shivie Pandit and Gaurie Pandit, Bandar is presented by Saffron Magicworks.

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2025.

Alongside Bobby Deol, the film also stars Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Raj B Shetty, Sapna Pabbi, Riddhi Sen, Jitendra Joshi, Indrajeet, and Nagesh Bhonsle. Bandar is slated for a theatrical release on June 5.
