The first glimpse of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is finally here, and it’s nothing short of a spectacle. The internet is in awe of the teaser shared on the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. While several social media users declared Ranbir Kapoor's Lord Rama character as an absolute peak, others expressed disappointment over Yash's blink-and-miss glimpse as the menacing Ravana.

Social media platform X quickly lit up with reactions, with viewers praising the film’s grand visuals, cinematography, production design and overall scale. Much of the spotlight, however, remained firmly on Kapoor’s portrayal.

One user wrote, “The walk, the body language in this scene – absolute peak,” adding that the actor “was born to play Lord Rama.” Another fan echoed the sentiment, saying they were “sold” on the performance after a single sequence.

The teaser’s technical finesse also drew applause. Many highlighted the VFX, calling it a leap forward for Indian cinema. “A visual treat on the big screen,” read one comment, with special mention of the background score by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.

The colour grading, too, sparked discussion. One viewer appreciated the transition “from light to dark,” particularly the imagery of Rama’s departure—marked by a glowing chariot set against deepening darkness - calling the symbolism “powerful and evocative.”

At the same time, some viewers were left wanting more – especially of Yash as Ravana. While the teaser offers only a fleeting glimpse of the antagonist and the Pushpak Vimaan, it appears to have done just enough to intrigue. “We didn’t see him, but we could feel him,” noted one user.

Kapoor, stepping into the role of Maryada Purushottam Rama, is seen across multiple shades – an ideal son, a composed king, a fierce warrior and a righteous leader. The teaser leans heavily into his physicality and quiet intensity, with several moments already finding resonance online.

The teaser opens with a reverent introduction to Lord Rama, positioning him as the eternal saviour. “Whenever the world descends into chaos, he is always the answer our protector, our hero, the legend,” the voiceover declares, culminating in the line: “We celebrate the greatest of all time—Maryada Purushottam Rama.”

Visually, the film is backed by the eight-time Oscar-winning studio DNEG, in collaboration with Monster Mind Creations, lending the project a global technical edge. The film reimagines the ancient epic attributed to sage Valmiki with a contemporary cinematic lens.
