Ameesha Patel shares how her flight had to be diverted after Dubai closed airspace.

Actor Ameesha Patel said that her flight from New York City to Mumbai was diverted to Muscat after airspace in the United Arab Emirates was closed due to missile attacks. The diversion took place even as the aircraft was preparing to land in Dubai.

In an X post she shared on Monday night, the actor said that passengers were waiting for further information. She later posted from the airport, saying it had been 24 hours since she left New York and that she was yet to reach Mumbai.

Flight diverted after UAE airspace closure

In her first post, Patel wrote, “On my way back to MUMBAI from NEW YORK on Emirates! As we were about to land in DUBAI, the airspace closed in the UAE due to fresh missile Attacks! We have now been diverted to MUSCAT n are awaiting further updates!! When will this WAR end!! Praying (sic).”

Patel was travelling with DJ Chetas and producer Kunal Goomer. A photograph from the start of their journey had been shared by Goomer before the mid-air disruption.

She later shared another picture from the airport and wrote, “24 hours from the time we left nyc and still counting hours to reach Mumbai. Endless airport lounge time (sic).”

Fresh strikes on the UAE

Meanwhile, Iran launched a fresh wave of missile and drone strikes targeting the UAE, with one attack sparking a fire at the Fujairah Oil Industrial Zone on May 4. The incident reportedly left several Indian nationals injured.

The strikes marked a sharp escalation in tensions amid the ongoing US-Iran war after a brief calm that followed a ceasefire between the United States and Tehran earlier this month. Emirati officials said air defence systems intercepted multiple incoming threats, though damage was still reported on the ground.
