It's Shoe-time: Watch Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, KJo at Devil Wears Prada 2 event
Meryl Streep reviewed Karan Johar's footwear during the promotional tour for The Devil Wears Prada 2 in Tokyo. The light-hearted exchange saw Johar foot a query or two from Anne Hathaway, too.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 remains one of the most anticipated films of 2026. Filmmaker Karan Johar recently shared visuals from Tokyo, capturing a moment with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway during the film’s international promotional tour. In a new promotional video, Meryl is seen reviewing Karan's look while Anne has a question or two for Johar, too.
In an Instagram video shared by 20th Century Studios, Johar is seen interacting with Streep and Hathaway. The latter asked Johar, “Do you judge their shoes?” His response evoked laughter from Hathaway: “All the time!” Observing Johar’s footwear, Meryl then commented, “You have the perfect shoes on today!” The pair's label identified with the brand in the title of the film.
A few days earlier, Karan Johar had posted pictures with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway on his Instagram handle, accompanied by a detailed caption. He expressed admiration for Streep, calling her an inspiration and a mentor in acting. He revealed having watched The Devil Wears Prada (2006) at least 47 times and referenced quoting it in various settings.
Johar wrote about the impact of meeting the actors, stating that standing next to them made him feel as if the ground was shifting. Despite trying to remain composed, he admitted his knees were rattling. He also mentioned the warm and welcoming nature of both actors.
The post also had a photograph of Johar with the two Hollywood actors, which, he wrote, would have a special place in his will. Hinting there would be more such interactions with the film's cast, he had ended the note with a light remark: “OH and one more thing, that’s all (sic).”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 reunites the original film's lead cast with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna. Along with the returning stars, new actors in the cast include Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux and Lucy Liu.
Apart from Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, fans will also see some other familiar faces from the first film such as Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026.
