Main Vaapas Aaunga: Sharvari's note for Imtiaz Ali hints at their bond on set

Actor Sharvari shared behind-the-scenes moments of the song Maskara from her upcoming film Main Ghar Aaunga. She also posted an emotional note for director Imtiaz Ali, thanking him for helping her discover new shades in her performance.

Actor Sharvari shared behind-the-scenes glimpses from the song Maskara and posted an emotional note for director Imtiaz Ali on Friday. The track is from her upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga, which is set to release in theatres on June 12.

Along with the photos and video, Sharvari wrote about the feeling at the centre of the song and thanked Imtiaz Ali for shaping her performance. Her post looked back at the making of the Maskara song and described the experience as an important part of her journey on the film.

Sharvari on the feeling behind Maskara

In her caption, Sharvari wrote, "‘Kiss-miss yara’ (lowkey my favourite emotion) is a fictional wordplay but so accurately describes the tingling feeling of falling in love for the first time (sic)." The actor said she and Imtiaz Ali referred to this feeling as an emotion that Jiya (her character) went through many times in her life.

Sharvari also wrote that working on Maskara with the filmmaker had been “such a beautiful experience”. She thanked him for guiding her with patience, clarity and warmth through “every emotion, every laughter, every moment of it”. She said she learnt a great deal by observing how he understood emotions and storytelling. The actor said she was thankful for his trust, encouragement and support.

Her message for Imtiaz Ali

In her note, she also wrote that Imtiaz helped her discover shades in her performance that she didn't even know were there.“Forever grateful to have shared this journey with you (sic),” Sharvari wrote, while signing off as Jiya.

The teaser of the film has already been released. In an official statement, Imtiaz Ali said the film draws almost entirely from stories of people during the Partition, while also holding on to the early feeling of love that was too personal to share.
