Sanjay Dutt plans to acquire Vaastav rights, team says it's close to his heart
Sanjay Dutt has said work on Vaastav 2 is under way and reports suggest he and Maanayata Dutt are exploring the film's rights. The move keeps another title from his earlier filmography in focus after the Khalnayak sequel announcement.

Sanjay Dutt has hinted that Vaastav: The Reality could be the next of his earlier films to return, after recently announcing a sequel to his cult classic Khalnayak.
According to media reports, Dutt, along with Maanayata Dutt, is now looking to acquire the rights to the Mahesh Manjrekar-directed film. A member from Sanjay’s team told Free Press Journal, “Sanju Sir is very close to Vaastav. He won the Filmfare and IIFA awards for Best Actor in 2000, and is keen to explore the best way to revisit the film.”
Sequel plans
Earlier, at a press meet, when asked if more projects were in the pipeline, Sanjay said, “We are working on Vaastav 2. As for Munna Bhai, you’ll have to ask Rajkumar Hirani. Raju, please make Munna Bhai again!”
The remarks came as Dutt spoke about revisiting older titles from his filmography. His comments on Vaastav followed the announcement of a sequel to Khalnayak, placing both projects in focus.
