Vivek Agnihotri marks one year of Operation Sindoor, pays tribute to Indian army

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri marked one year of Operation Sindoor with a heartfelt note on social media, paying tribute to India’s leadership, armed forces and citizens. The filmmaker, who is directing the upcoming film Operation Sindoor based on India’s May 2025 military strikes, reflected on the significance of the operation and the courage associated with it.

Agnihotri wrote on X, “A year since India showed the world that peace is our nature, but silence is not our weakness (sic).”

He added, “Today, I bow my head to the courage of our leadership led by @narendramodi and our brave army, and the spirit of every Indian who stood united in a moment of national resolve (sic).”

The filmmaker also wrote that perhaps the greatest tribute would be ensuring that the story of Operation Sindoor is told to the world truthfully and powerfully, so people remember what was defended, what was sacrificed and the cost of keeping humanity alive.

He further remarked that while history remembers wars, civilisations remember courage.

About Operation Sindoor, the film

Recently, T-Series and Vivek Agnihotri’s I Am Buddha Productions announced their collaboration on Operation Sindoor. The film is based on the book, Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan, by Lt Gen KJS Tiny Dhillon and will be directed by Vivek Agnihotri.

The film draws inspiration from India’s targeted military strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the 2025 Pahalgam massacre, in which several innocent civilians, mostly tourists, lost their lives. The Indian operation was widely seen as a defining moment in the nation's strategic response and military precision.

While the makers are yet to announce the cast and release timeline of Operation Sindoor, the project marks the first large-scale collaboration between T-Series and Vivek Agnihotri.
