Raees vs Kaabil to Secret Superstar vs Golmaal Again: Biggest box office clashes of 2017

With only 52 weeks in a year and many more Bollywood films releasing, box office clashes are not uncommon. Let us take a look at the biggest box office clashes this year.

Raees vs Kaabil:

2017 began with the clash of the titans - Shah Rukh Khan's Raees and Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil battling it out at the box office. Kaabil's producer Rakesh Roshan cried foul and alleged that the exhibitors were giving SRK's film the upper-hand, with a greater distribution of screens. In the race, it may have been Raees who won, but Kaabil did not give up without a fair fight.

Secret Superstar vs Golmaal Again:

This Diwali, there were fireworks at the box office, when two of the most awaited films locked horns at the box office. Aamir Khan's production, Secret Superstar fought it out with Ajay Devgn-starrer Golmaal Again. Secret Superstar was decimated by Rohit Shetty's film, which went on to cross Rs 200 crore domestically, and is the highest grossing Hindi film in 2017 so far.

Bhoomi vs Haseena Parkar:

Bhoomi, which marked the return of Sanjay Dutt on the big screen, decided to release on September 22, so as to not clash with any other film at the box office. However, it all changed when it was announced that Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Haseena Parkar would also come out on the same day. Although Bhoomi performed better than Haseena Parkar, both films tanked at the box office.

Simran vs Lucknow Central:

If Simran made headlines for the controversies surrounding leading lady Kangana Ranaut to the debate surrounding who really wrote the film, Farhan Akhtar-starrer Lucknow Central was in the news for its similarities with another release, Qaidi Band. Simran fared better than Lucknow Central, but neither film had a memorable run.

Baadshaho vs Shubh Mangal Saavdhan:

The big-budget Baadshaho clashed with the small film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, but the result of this box office fight left everyone speechless. While Baadshaho opened to 2800 screens, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan got only 1400 screens. However, the Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer raked in profits, while Baadshaho fizzled out after a strong start.
