Actor Trisha Krishnan was among the early arrivals at Vijay’s oath-taking ceremony on Sunday, but it was her warm, unguarded greeting with his mother, Shoba Chandrasekhar, that quietly stood out.

Visuals from the Nehru Stadium captured Trisha warmly greeting Shoba as she arrived to take her seat. The two shared a brief hug before settling into the front row.

For the ceremony, Trisha wore a blue silk Kanjeevaram saree from Pothys, paired with a beige embroidered blouse. She was styled by Eka Lakhani and Harshene Ravichandar.

Trisha was accompanied by her mother, Uma Krishnan, and had earlier said she was “looking forward” to witnessing the occasion.

Held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, the ceremony was attended by Vijay’s family, party colleagues and close associates. Vijay's Jana Nayagan producer KL Narayana, lyricist Vivek, and actor Jai were also among the attendees.

In his first address after taking office, Vijay said a new phase of governance had begun, centred on “real secularism and social justice”. He emphasised a commitment to transparent governance. His cabinet colleagues, Adhav Arjuna and KR Arunraj, echoed similar sentiments.

A long professional association

Trisha and Vijay have shared screen space in several films over the years, including Ghilli (2004), Thirupaachi (2005), Aathi (2006) and Kuruvi (2008). They reunited in Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, where they played a married couple. Trisha also appeared in the special number “Matta” in The GOAT.
