Nani, Venkat Prabhu, celebs congratulate Vijay as TVK nears majority in debut poll
Film personalities congratulated Vijay after early counting trends showed TVK leading in Tamil Nadu. The reactions gathered pace as his debut election performance pushed the party close to a majority.
Celebrities from the film industry began congratulating actor and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam chief Vijay after early counting trends in Tamil Nadu showed his party leading in around 110 seats and recording the highest vote share. In its debut election, TVK crossed the 100-seat mark in the trends and moved close to the majority figure of 117.
As the early leads came in, messages for Vijay appeared on social media. Actors Nani, Nikhil Siddhartha, Aju Varghese and Sibi Sathyaraj, along with filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, were among those who posted their wishes for the actor-politician.
Nani congratulated Vijay on X and wrote, "Congratulations @actorvijay sir. First doubted and then crowned. Happened at our home and now it’s happening in our neighbouring home. Underdog winning is always absolute cinema ( or should I say absolute politics ?) :) Hope great things follow for the people of Tamil Nadu who have made their decision clear."
Nikhil Siddhartha also posted in support of Vijay. He wrote, "Proud to see Thalapathy @actorvijay garu from our Indian Cinema Industry making a Huge Mark In Tamil Nadu Politics & emerging as the Single Largest Party Historic Achievement #Jananayagan #TVK" (sic).
Aju Varghese tweeted, "The historical example of luck favours the brave ! @actorvijay sir #respect #change" (sic). Venkat Prabhu, sharing a flag with Vijay’s face on it, wrote, "THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME" and added lit emojis.
Actor Sibi Sathyaraj also wished Vijay. In one tweet, he wrote, "Blastu! Blastu!." In another post, roughly translated from Tamil, he said, "We’ll be fine, we’ll be fine, we’ll all be fine!"
According to early trends, TVK was ahead of its rivals, while the DMK-led alliance was leading in just over 50 seats and the AIADMK bloc was ahead in more than 70. Vijay was also leading in key constituencies, including Perumbur and Trichy East.
With TVK emerging strongly in the early rounds of counting, congratulatory messages for Vijay continued to come in, as film personalities reacted to his party’s early lead in Tamil Nadu.
