These Countries Seek 'Made in India' Vaccine

India has been a leader in supplying affordable drugs to the entire world is now all set to deliver vaccines to help fight the global COVID-19 pandemic. Besides the neighbouring countries, Brazil and South Africa also have reached out to India seeking vaccines to deal with the COVID-19 crisis. South Africa, which is battling a second wave and a new variant of the virus, will be receiving one million COVID-19 vaccines from the Pune-based Serum Institute of India later this month. And this will be followed by an additional 500,000 doses in February. Brazil has reached out to India for vaccine shipment. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has asked him to expedite the shipment of the Coronavirus vaccines to his country. He has asked for the shipment of 2 million of AstraZeneca’s vaccine doses.

Yogi Adityanath on Saturday presented a saffron gamcha to Suvendu Adhikari, shortly after the latter took oath as the first BJP Chief Minister of West Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hugged and honoured 98-year-old Makhanlal Sarkar, one of the earliest and senior most members of the BJP. The scene unfolded on the stage ahead of Suvendu Adhikari's swearing-in as West Bengal's Chief Minister in Kolkata. PM Modi also touched Sarkar's feet and presented a shawl to him as a mark of respect. In 1952, Sarkar was arrested in Kashmir while he was accompanying Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee as the latter was marching to hoist the tricolour there. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya described the elderly party leader as "one of the earliest grassroots figures associated with the nationalist movement in post-Independence India."
