Fighting slippery slopes & flooded tracks, a team of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel carried an injured woman for 15 hours while covering 40 km, as it rescued her from a mountainous & remote border location of Uttarakhand.
The woman fell from a hillside and broke her legs on August 20 but she could not be rescued for two days as a chopper could not land in the area.
As her condition worsened, the ITBP was informed and subsequently, troops from the 14th battalion of the force deployed at the Milam border post along the Sino-India Line of Actual Control (LAC), about 22 km from the woman's village, trekked to rescue her.
The video went viral & garnered blessings from fellow citizens.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hugged and honoured 98-year-old Makhanlal Sarkar, one of the earliest and senior most members of the BJP. The scene unfolded on the stage ahead of Suvendu Adhikari's swearing-in as West Bengal's Chief Minister in Kolkata. PM Modi also touched Sarkar's feet and presented a shawl to him as a mark of respect. In 1952, Sarkar was arrested in Kashmir while he was accompanying Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee as the latter was marching to hoist the tricolour there. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya described the elderly party leader as "one of the earliest grassroots figures associated with the nationalist movement in post-Independence India."
