Ahead of the upcoming assembly polls in Bengal, Bengal ki beti faceoff has escalated on Women's Day. Rejecting PM Modi's women unsafe in Bengal charge, Mamata Banerjee flaunted TMC'S 41% female MPs and highlighted crime against women in BJP-ruled states.

And in Tamil Nadu, a big faceoff has erupted between Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) president Kamal Haasan and MK Stalin over DMK's poll manifesto. Kamal Haasan claimed that DMK president MK Stalin copied his promise of providing a monthly salary for home-makers, creation of 50 lakh job opportunities and upliftment of people living below poverty line.

Video: Vijay swears in as Tamil Nadu CM amid roars, chants of frenzied crowd

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony. The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
