The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a historic victory in the West Bengal assembly elections, marking a significant political shift in eastern India.
The Delhi Police has so far filed 200 chargesheets in connection with the riots that took place in North-East Delhi n February this year. The clashes had broken out after violence between citizenship law supporters and protesters spiralled out of control leaving at least 53 people dead and around 200 injured.
According to the police, WhatsApp messages, media coverage and video recordings helped them track phone locations, arrest the culprits and unlock conspiracies.
On Monday, a Delhi court has dismissed a bail application of a man arrested in connection with a case related to the killing of a local resident during the violence in north-east Delhi, saying that in its July 18 order that the case was sensitive in nature and there were serious allegations against the accused. Suspended AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain has also been charged in the murder case of IB official Ankit Sharma during the violence.
