Anti-love jihad law: Crackdown on conversion for marriage or persecution?

After Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh govt is drafting a law against alleged love jihad in a bid to crackdown on conversions for marriage.

The Uttar Pradesh Home Department has sent a proposal to the state's Law Ministry for a stringent law to deal with the alleged religious conversion of women in the name of marriage, which BJP leaders refer to as "love jihad".

Apart from MP and UP, three other BJP-ruled states are also mulling a similar law against "love jihad".

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief minister Ashok Gehlot has lashed out against the move, calling it BJP's attempt to divide the country.
