Ain't trending no more: Akash Singh's note celebration vs CSK leaves Steyn fed up
Akash Singh flashed a handwritten note after striking against CSK in Lucknow. But Dale Steyn wasn't too pleased with the celebration, claiming that flashing the note was never a trend in the first place.
Is the note celebration in IPL becoming outdated? Dale Steyn certainly thinks so, and he made his feelings felt right after Akash Singh pulled out a piece of paper with a message during the LSG vs CSK game at the Ekana Stadium on May 15.

Akash played his first match of the season and rocked the CSK top order by picking the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson and Urvil Patel. Right after the wicket of Ruturaj, he pulled off the note that read,
"#Akkionfire – Akash knows how to take wickets in a T20 game."
This trend started last year when Abhishek Sharma delivered a message for the SRH fans and it has continued this season with Raghu Sharma first doing it and then Urvil Patel showing a message dedicated to his dad.
But by the time Akash pulled it off, Steyn said it was time to put the papers away. The South African legend, in a tweet, said that the note celebration isn't trending anymore and it never was in fashion.
"Time to put the papers away. It ain’t trending no more. Actually, to be honest, never really was," said Steyn on X.
WHY DID AKASH PULL OFF NOTE CELEBRATION?
During the match, Justin Langer was quizzed about the celebration from Akash by the commentators and he said that he wasn't aware of it and it was something they will need to look into.
But, Akash then revealed it after the end of the first innings, saying that there was no reason behind and the chit was there to act as motivation for him.
"It just gives me motivation. There is no reason behind it. Whatever motivates me during the game, I'll keep backing it," said Akash.
It will be interesting to see if the players will now heed to Steyn's advice and look for a new celebration during matches.
