MI vs CSK Highlights, IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians suffer complete humiliation at Wankhede, lose by 103 runs
Mumbai (MI) vs Chennai (CSK) Highlights, IPL 2026: Mumbai suffer their worst defeat in the history of the tournament as Chennai complete an out and out demolition at the Wankhede.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the IPL 2026 match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
MI vs CSK Live: Required run rate keeps climbing
The required run rate just refuses to ease—it’s climbing, now threatening to touch 14.50! The pressure is mounting with every delivery for Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, and this chase is slipping further away.
They’re running out of time, out of options—this has to be an all-out assault now.
IPL 2026 Live: Can Tilak show his magic?
We all saw what Tilak Varma did against the Gujarat Titans—pure class, pure authority. But tonight, this is a different beast altogether! This is a steep chase, the required rate is climbing—almost touching 14—and the pressure is sky-high.
There’s no room for caution now, no time to settle in. It’s go big or go home for Tilak Varma. The field is spread, the bowlers are hunting, but he has one job—take them on, take them down!
IPL 2026 Live: Surya cops another blow
The heat is well and truly on against Suryakumar Yadav. Anshul Kamboj once again gets a length delivery seaming a tad bit inside. But it hits the groin area and the physios come rushing in.
IPL 2026 Live: Surya goes down?
Whoa!!!! Surya somehow got his way back in the crease. But that is a funny sight seeing Surya just lying down on the pitch. He does not seem to be taking it seriously. Which is a good sign considering the situation of the game.
MI vs CSK Live: Top stuff from Mukesh
Great way to come back after conceding the boundary. Still mixing things up. But Mumbai need to take their time but also ensure that they don't stay too quiet.
IPL 2026 Live: Akeal Hosein, you beauty!
What an over from Akeal Hosein. Mixing up his pace and using the arm-ball smartly, he kept the MI batters in check and even quietened Tilak Varma in that passage. Chennai Super Kings have started with real control, building early pressure at the Wankhede.
That spell has immediately changed the mood of the innings. What looked like a surface where a big total was on the cards now feels far more competitive, with CSK tightening the screws early on and the crowd noticeably quieter.
MI vs CSK Live: Mumbai lose both openers
Mumbai Indians suffered an early double blow as they lost both their openers inside the powerplay, handing Chennai Super Kings the perfect start. After the first breakthrough, Mukesh Choudhary struck again to remove Quinton de Kock, who was undone by a hint of movement. The left-arm seamer delivered a good length ball at pace that swung away outside off, tempting de Kock into a drive. Reaching out without fully covering the line, he got an inside edge that crashed back onto the stumps. The early wickets injected visible energy into the Super Kings’ fielding unit, leaving Mumbai Indians on the back foot right at the start.
MI vs CSK Live: Danish fails to make any impact
Danish Malewar’s struggles continued as he fell for a first-ball duck, unable to make an impact for the second game in a row. Facing Akeal Hosein, Malewar was lured into a false stroke by a well-flighted delivery on a full length. Committing to the forward press, he pushed at the ball away from his body, only for it to grip and turn just enough to catch the outside edge. Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson completed a straightforward catch behind the stumps, leaving Malewar to walk back without troubling the scorers. It was another disappointing outing for the youngster, who is yet to find his footing this season.
MI vs CSK Live: CSK post 207 but is it enough?
Sanju Samson’s 101 helped Chennai Super Kings post 207 for six at the Wankhede. As he walked off, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah came over to congratulate him, while CSK fans in yellow stood up to applaud.
It’s still unclear if 207 is enough—Kolkata Knight Riders scored 220 recently and still lost. The good news for the bowlers is that there’s no dew so far, as Ashwani Kumar said. With the batting depth Mumbai Indians possess, they will back themselves to chase this, though CSK’s in-form bowling attack should make for an intriguing second innings.
IPL 2026 Live: Samson hits his 2nd IPL hundred of this season
Sanju Samson brought up his second hundred of the season in style, finishing with a pull to the boundary off Krish Bhagat. Picking the short ball early, he sent it to deep square leg to reach the milestone, capping off a superb innings. It was a commanding knock under pressure, and he made the final over count, collecting 16 runs to push Chennai Super Kings past the 200 mark at the Wankhede.
MI vs CSK: Ashwani finishes off his spell with a wicket
Ashwani Kumar had the last laugh in the 18th over, dismissing Jamie Overton just when he looked set to cause more damage.
Overton had taken him on, smashing two boundaries and a six in the over, but Ashwani held his nerve. He went full and wide outside off, tempting the big shot. Overton went for the lofted drive, but failed to get the distance, hitting it straight to Naman Dhir at deep point.
Dhir ran in from the boundary and completed a sharp catch to end Overton’s quick cameo. A timely breakthrough for Mumbai Indians as Chennai Super Kings looked to accelerate at the death.
MI vs CSK Live: Bumrah bowls a sensational over
Jasprit Bumrah delivered a brilliant 17th over, giving away just two runs and picking up a key wicket to bring Mumbai Indians back into the game. After a single from Sanju Samson, Bumrah nailed his yorkers, not allowing Kartik Sharma any room to score. The pressure built, and Kartik eventually mistimed a full toss straight to Mitchell Santner at deep square leg, who took a good low catch. Just two runs and a wicket—Bumrah has slowed Chennai Super Kings at a crucial stage.
IPL Live: Samson nears his 2nd IPL hundred this season
Sanju Samson is closing in on his second hundred of the season, taking charge of the innings with a commanding assault on Krish Bhagat. The over went for 15, and Samson was at the centre of it all.
He started by taking on the slower ball, picking it early and launching it over long-on for a towering six. Bhagat then nailed a yorker, but Samson’s class stood out—opening the face late and squeezing it past short third man for four. A full toss on the pads followed, and Samson made it look even easier, glancing it fine for another boundary.
MI vs CSK: Kartik shows six-hitting prowess
Kartik Sharma made an immediate impact, taking on Mitchell Santner with clean, confident hitting at a time CSK needed momentum. He set the tone by dancing down the track to a full ball outside off and lifting it effortlessly over long-off. The connection was sweet, and the intent was clear.
Santner tried to pull things back with a flatter line and tighter length, but Kartik wasn’t done. Getting a big stride in, he went inside out over extra cover for another six, striking it cleanly and holding his shape through the shot. In between, he stayed compact, punching the length balls back down the ground or into the off side without taking risks.
Two sixes, both different in execution but equally authoritative, and CSK suddenly had something to build on with Kartik settling in alongside Sanju Samson.
MI vs CSK Live: Samson stands tall as MI keep a check
Sanju Samson stands tall amid the chaos, holding Chennai Super Kings’ innings together as wickets continue to tumble at the Wankhede. On a surface where setting the tone early is non-negotiable, Dewald Brevis walked in with clear intent, drawing from his experience at the venue. He went after the bowling straightaway, and when it clicked—like that audacious six off Mitchell Santner despite the line being pushed wide—it embodied the fearless, modern T20 approach CSK seemed committed to.
Mumbai Indians, however, have refused to be rattled. Even as Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan and Brevis all found boundaries early in their stays, MI have stayed disciplined, sticking firmly to their plans. Brevis, in particular, was kept in check with clever variations—Ashwani Kumar using the pitch expertly, taking pace off and mixing in the slower bouncer to deny him the room for his trademark upper cuts.
With the middle order now exposed, the contest has narrowed into a decisive phase. It’s Samson against Mumbai Indians, with young Kartik Sharma joining him at the crease. MI sense an opening—and if they execute from here, they could yet tighten their grip on the game.
