India’s batting talisman Virat Kohli has returned to London following the conclusion of India’s three-match home series against New Zealand, opting for a brief break before gearing up for a demanding 2026 season. The former India captain is expected to use the time away from competitive cricket to recharge, ahead of his next assignment in the Indian Premier League later this year.

Kohli was recently spotted in the English capital alongside his wife, actor Anushka Sharma, where the couple happily posed for a selfie with an Indian fan. The photograph, shared by one of Kohli’s fan clubs on social media, quickly gained traction online, drawing warm reactions from fans delighted to see the star couple in a relaxed setting.

Dressed in winter casuals, Kohli and Anushka appeared at ease and unhurried, continuing their tendency to keep a low profile during their stays in London. Anushka, who has largely remained away from the public eye in recent months, was seen smiling as the couple obliged the fan. Kohli, meanwhile, is currently away from international cricket, with no immediate fixtures lined up in the coming weeks.

Kohli brisk form for India

The break comes on the back of a highly productive outing for Kohli with the bat. The 37-year-old was in imperious touch during the New Zealand home series, finishing as India’s leading run-scorer. Across three innings, Kohli piled up 240 runs at an impressive average of 80, underlining his continued importance in India’s ODI set-up despite stepping away from certain formats.

While Kohli has made London a regular base in recent years, he continues to travel with the Indian team when on duty and returns to India for bilateral series. His next confirmed appearance will come in Indian Premier League 2026, where he will once again don the colours of Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

On the international front, India will soon turn their attention to the T20 World Cup 2026 at home. However, with Kohli and former captain Rohit Sharma having retired from the T20 format after India’s triumph in 2024, the duo will not be part of the squad’s bid to defend the title. Kohli’s next outing in India colours is expected in July, when India tour England for an ODI series.
