Apple’s next premium iPhones are likely just 3 months away, but leaks around the iPhone 18 Pro lineup have already started creating buzz. If early reports are accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could bring some of the biggest changes seen in recent years. From a cleaner front design and camera upgrades to a faster chip and larger battery, Apple may be preparing a more noticeable refresh for Pro buyers in 2026. For users planning to upgrade, the new models could make the decision between buying the current iPhone now or waiting a little more difficult. Here is everything tipped so far about the iPhone 18 Pro series.

New design?

One of the most talked-about changes is the front display. Reports suggest Apple may finally move Face ID sensors under the screen. If that happens, the familiar Dynamic Island pill-shaped cutout could disappear from the Pro models.

Instead, Apple is said to be testing a smaller punch-hole selfie camera placed near the top-left side of the display. This could give users a cleaner full-screen look with fewer distractions while watching videos, gaming or browsing.

While the overall body shape may remain close to the iPhone 17 Pro lineup, the front design alone could make the new phones look fresh.

Camera

Apple is also tipped to focus heavily on camera improvements this year. One of the leaked upgrades is a mechanical iris system for at least one rear camera. This would allow variable aperture control, helping the lens adjust how much light enters.

In real-world use, this may improve low-light photography, portraits and natural background blur. It could also reduce the need for aggressive software processing.
Another major leak points to a new three-layer stacked image sensor, reportedly sourced from Samsung. This sensor may help improve image quality, reduce noise, boost dynamic range and offer faster capture speeds for both photos and videos. Chipset

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to run on Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chipset. Reports claim it could be based on TSMC’s advanced 2nm manufacturing process.

Apple may also use a newer packaging method where RAM is placed closer to the CPU, GPU and Neural Engine. This can help improve speed, power efficiency and heat management.

Bigger battery?

Battery life could be another major upgrade, especially on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Reports claim Apple may make the phone slightly thicker to fit a larger battery.
The device is tipped to feature a 5,100mAh battery, which would be among the biggest ever used in an iPhone. However, this may also increase the weight to beyond 240 grams. For users who prioritise long battery life over lighter weight, that trade-off may still be worth it.

Display

Apple is not expected to change screen sizes this year. The iPhone 18 Pro could continue with a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max may retain the 6.9-inch panel.

There is still mixed information about whether Apple will fully remove the Dynamic Island or simply shrink it further. Some leaks claim only a punch-hole camera will remain, while others suggest a smaller version of the current setup.

Expected launch timeline

Interestingly, some reports claim the standard iPhone 18 model could arrive later in 2027, though Apple has not confirmed anything.

India price expectations

As of now, there is no strong indication of another price hike. Since Apple reportedly raised pricing for the iPhone 17 lineup, the company may keep the next generation stable.

For reference, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at Rs 1,34,900 in India, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,49,900. If pricing remains unchanged, the iPhone 18 Pro could launch around similar levels. However, final prices may still depend on component costs, production expenses and market competition.
