
Lava doubles down on Make in India, opens new component manufacturing unit in Noida
Lava has inaugurated a new component and charger manufacturing unit in Noida. This is a move to boost local manufacturing, improve quality control, and reduce dependence on global supply chains claims the company.

Lava has inaugurated a new Component and Charger Manufacturing Unit at its plant in Noida.The company claimed the move aims toward localisation and quality monitoring of its products. The facility was inaugurated by Sunil Kumar Sharma, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of Uttar Pradesh, in the presence of Lava Managing Director Sunil Raina and Executive Director & Chief Manufacturing Officer Sanjeev Agarwal.
The company says the new unit is aimed at expanding its component manufacturing capabilities while reducing dependence on global supply chains. Lava also claims the move aligns with its long-term vision of increasing domestic value addition and strengthening India’s mobile manufacturing ecosystem.
UP government eyes Noida as mobile manufacturing hub
Speaking at the inauguration, Sunil Kumar Sharma said the Uttar Pradesh government aims to position Noida as a major mobile manufacturing hub in India.
“UP government under the leadership of Shri Yogi Adityanath envisions Noida to be the mobile manufacturing hub of India,” Sharma said, adding that the state’s developmental goals are focused on industrial growth, employment generation, and maintaining a strong law-and-order environment to support businesses.
He also congratulated Lava and its workforce on the new milestone and said the state would continue supporting industrial development in the region.
Lava Managing Director Sunil Raina said the company has focused on building a homegrown technology brand over the past 17 years, with an emphasis on product quality, manufacturing capabilities, and design autonomy.
According to Raina, the new facility is in line with Lava’s “Make in India” vision and the company’s plan to expand its manufacturing and research capabilities by 2030.
Lava expands manufacturing capabilities
Lava says its manufacturing operations currently employ more than 3,000 workers and have a production capacity of 20 million units annually. With the addition of the new facility, the company is now expanding into component manufacturing with a claimed annual capacity of 9 million units.
The company also highlighted its employee training initiatives, including in-house training modules, NAPS apprenticeships, and B.Voc programmes, aimed at helping workers move into engineering and supervisory roles.
Lava says the expansion is expected to support local manufacturing growth, create more employment opportunities, and strengthen India’s domestic electronics production ecosystem.
