US vlogger left stunned by East Bengal fans after historic match win
US vlogger John Nelson filmed East Bengal supporters celebrating wildly after the final whistle in their 2-1 win over Inter Kashi. The video underlined the emotion around the club's first national league title in 22 years.

A viral video shared by US vlogger John Nelson is giving the internet a glimpse into the sheer madness of Indian football fandom after East Bengal FC ended a 22-year wait to become champions of India.
The clip, posted on Instagram, captured chaotic celebrations moments after East Bengal defeated Inter Kashi 2-1 in the final game of the season to win the Indian Super League title. As soon as the final whistle blew, fans inside the stadium erupted into celebration, screaming, waving flags, climbing over guardrails and rushing onto the pitch.
Clearly stunned by the atmosphere, Nelson recorded the scenes as supporters in East Bengal’s iconic red-and-yellow colours celebrated what many described as a once-in-a-generation moment for the club.

While some international viewers initially assumed the scenes were from a local tournament, Indian football fans quickly stepped into the comments section to explain the scale of the moment.
One user clarified that the match was not a small local fixture but the final and decisive ISL game directly linked to the title race.
“It’s actually not a local tournament — it was an Indian Super League match, the top-tier football league of India,” the comment read.
The fan further explained that despite the match technically being an away fixture, the stadium was packed overwhelmingly with East Bengal supporters. Since only around 8,500 tickets were released due to the smaller venue capacity, the attendance may have appeared limited on camera. According to the user, East Bengal usually draws crowds of around 20,000 to 25,000 fans regularly.
The comment also highlighted how nearly 10,000 supporters gathered separately at the East Bengal club ground in Kolkata for a live screening of the match. Just days earlier, the famous Kolkata Derby between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan Super Giant had reportedly witnessed around 62,000 fans at the stadium.
For East Bengal supporters, the victory carried enormous emotional weight. While the club has won tournaments like the Durand Cup and Federation Cup over the years, this marked their first national league title in 22 years, a drought that had become part of the club’s modern identity.
The viral video has now become yet another reminder that Indian football fandom, especially in Kolkata, can rival the passion seen anywhere else in the world.
