Waves crash into city streets, drench pedestrians in France's worst flooding in 40 years

Italy and France are grappling with severe flooding, with heavy rains causing rivers to overflow and landslides across both countries.

In Italy, firefighters carried out 350 rescue operations from Thursday to Friday in the Liguria, Tuscany, and Emilia Romagna regions. The Emilia Romagna area, in particular, was heavily affected, with rivers bursting their banks, flooding towns and villages.

Footage from firefighters showed water surging through a breach in an embankment near Bagnolo in Piano.

Meanwhile, in France, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne said Friday that emergency responders had been involved in around 2,300 rescue operations, including lifesaving efforts. Central France is experiencing what has been described as the worst flooding in 40 years.
