Mir also revealed how Pakistan relationship with Iran improved significantly over the last two years, attributing this shift to the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s personal affinity for Pakistan, rooted in his time spent in Karachi. He further revealed that before his assassination, Khamenei assisted Pakistan in addressing militancy in Balochistan by targeting insurgent hideouts on Iranian soil. Despite allegations of taking instructions from the White House, Mir maintained that Pakistan enjoyed the unique confidence of both Washington and Tehran during the peace process.
