Watch: When Odisha highway turned into a fishing spot

In an unusual sight, locals were seen fishing on the waterlogged National Highway 57 in Boudh, Odisha, on August 2nd.

This followed heavy and continuous rainfall that caused ponds from the fisheries department to overflow.

The incessant downpour, triggered by a well-marked low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal intensifying into a deep depression, has left many areas in Odisha waterlogged. The state's rainy season, which typically starts in July and lasts till October, has been particularly severe this year, with cities like Puri and Bhubaneswar recording all-time high rainfall.

The extreme weather conditions have disrupted normal life and caused significant damage.
