Porsche has pushed the limits of electric performance even further with the Taycan Turbo GT equipped with the new Manthey Kit, setting a fresh Nurburgring Nordschleife lap record for electric executive cars. Driven by Porsche development driver Lars Kern, the all-electric performance sedan clocked an impressive 6:55.533-minute lap around the 20.832km circuit, making it over nine seconds quicker than the previous benchmark in the category.

More significantly, the new time is 12 seconds faster than the lap set by the standard Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package back in October 2023, underlining the substantial gains delivered by the Manthey-developed track package.

This marks the first time Porsche has introduced a Manthey Kit for one of its electric models. Previously reserved for hardcore GT-badged sports cars, the Manthey treatment now transforms the Taycan Turbo GT into an even more focused track machine. The kit will be available globally from June as a retrofit package for all Taycan Turbo GT models equipped with the Weissach Package.

According to Porsche, the Manthey Kit extensively revises the Taycan’s aerodynamics, chassis and powertrain. The aerodynamic package alone increases downforce by more than three times compared to the standard car. At 200kmph, total downforce rises from 95kg to 310kg, while at the car’s new 310kmph top speed, it generates nearly 740kg of downforce.

The upgrades include a larger rear wing with redesigned end plates, a revised front diffuser, a high-performance rear diffuser with extended fins, larger underbody air deflectors and carbon aerodiscs on the rear wheels. Porsche says the setup allows drivers to choose between low- and high-downforce configurations depending on circuit requirements.

For the first time on a Manthey-equipped Porsche, the package also includes powertrain enhancements. Optimisations to the high-voltage battery, pulse inverters and control electronics increase the maximum discharge current from 1,100 amps to 1,300 amps. As a result, peak output climbs to 600kW, while torque rises to 1,270Nm with Launch Control. Porsche’s 10-second Attack Mode now delivers an additional 130kW boost, temporarily increasing output to 730kW.

The Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit also benefits from newly developed 21-inch forged aluminium wheels paired with specially developed Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres. Despite their larger dimensions, the wheels are lighter than the standard setup, aided further by titanium wheel bolts that reduce unsprung mass.

Porsche has also recalibrated the Taycan’s Porsche Active Ride suspension, all-wheel-drive system and rear-axle steering specifically for circuit use. A larger braking package with 440mm front discs and 410mm rear discs has also been introduced for improved stopping performance.

Speaking about the record-setting lap, Lars Kern said the car felt noticeably more stable and confidence-inspiring through high-speed sections and heavy braking zones. He added that the improved aerodynamics, stickier tyres and enhanced power delivery played a major role in shaving valuable seconds off the previous benchmark.

The Manthey Kit further reinforces Porsche’s push to establish the Taycan as one of the quickest and most capable electric performance cars on sale today, while also showcasing how EVs are rapidly evolving into serious track-focused machines.
