Manipur burning, Bengal seeing violence, BJP says Punjab's next: AAP's Sanjay Singh
AAP's Sanjay Singh criticised the BJP, claiming that the BJP started its 'Mission Punjab' with twin explosions in Amritsar and Jalandhar. His remarks came after Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann held the saffron side responsible for the blasts, saying this was how they were preparing for the Punjab assembly polls next year.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh slammed the BJP on Thursday, highlighting the post-poll violence in Bengal, and claimed the saffron side started its 'Mission Punjab' with twin blasts in Amritsar and Jalandhar. "Does the BJP want to spread violence in Punjab?" he asked during a press briefing.
Singh's remarks pertained to twin explosions near security establishments in Punjab on Tuesday night, triggering an alarm and panic in the state along with a political blame game. The police suspected a plot by Pakistan's ISI to cause disruptions for the Operation Sindoor anniversary.
The first explosion happened around 8 pm in Jalandhar outside the BSF headquarters, while the second blast took place around 11 pm near the Army cantonment in Amritsar's Khasa. Police said no injuries were reported.
Sanjay Singh alleged that the BJP wishes to see the country's atmosphere disrupted. "Manipur has been burning for the past three years, violence has intensified in Bengal after the elections, and after that, the Bharatiya Janata Party says that Punjab is next on the list," the AAP MP said.
He claimed that there are direct ties between the BJP and the ISI. "We have seen this in the past in the Pathankot incident. Blasts in Amritsar and Jalandhar are part of the BJP's poll strategy to break peace in the state," he added.
The BJP has a "history of joining hands with the ISI", the AAP MP alleged, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi "invited" them to investigate the Pathankot incident.
"It is the same ISI that is behind several incidents in the country, which the BJP has strong relations with. Hence, Chief Minister (Bhagwant) Mann and our party have accused them of causing blasts in Amritsar and Jalandhar," Singh added.
Mann on Wednesday held the BJP responsible for the two blasts, and said this was how the party was preparing for the 2027 assembly elections in Punjab.
