Chennai techie's death: Madras HC asks Tamil Nadu govt to pay Rs 5 lakh compensation to her family

A day after Chennai techie's death, the Madras High Court has directed Tamil Nadu govt to pay interim compensation of Rs 5 lakh to her family. The court ordered govt to recover the compensation amount from the officials who allowed the illegal banners.

The 23-year-old software engineer Subashree died after an illegal banner fell on her following which was hit by a lorry on Thursday.

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders.
