Ground report: Chaos at Haryana-Punjab border as farmers face-off against cops

A tense situation prevailed at the Shambhu border for two hours today, India Today reporter, Satender Chauhan, who was at the Punjab-Haryana border amid the farmers' protest, said. Tear gas shells were fired at the farmers through drones, while some protesters also resorted to stone pelting, thus leading to unrest. Some of the farmers also tried to remove the cement barricades with the help of tractors.

Farmers were also seen carrying wet jute bags to shield themselves from the effect of the smoke released from tear gas shells. Heavy security was put in place on all borders to block farmers from marching towards Delhi, to press their demands for a law on Minimum Support Price (MSP). Meanwhile, security at Delhi's Red Fort was heightened and the fort was shut to visitors and tourists.
